Warble Warble Scratch Scratch

Warble warble scratch scratch
A voice alights at the strike of a match
Crackling warmth like a wood stove fire
Embers aglow, as flames dance higher

Hiss hiss hum hum
The nylon strings begin to strum
Like a conversation with a friend
That I can enjoy again and again

Click click squeak squeak
The strings swell up to the highest peak
Then descend to the depths of the mighty face
Our lungs inhale their sweeping grace

Warble warble scratch scratch
It’s almost time to close the latch
The volume fades, the needle slows
With silence free now to compose
